ESCAPE TO PARADISE
FIJI ISLANDS CRUISE

We'll visit Mother Nature at her tropical best, be welcomed into the friendliest culture on earth, cruise through spectacular South Pacific islands and swim in Fiji's famous crystal-clear waters. Eight days and seven nights aboard the Fiji Princess with one sighted guide per person.
October 16 – 23, 2026

Introduction

Fiji, ‘where happiness comes naturally,’  is an archipelago of more than 300 islands in the South Pacific. Fiji is famous for its breathtaking landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. Most of the population lives on the two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu; we will be cruising through the remote and spectacular Mamanuca Islands. The capital, Suva, on Viti Levu, is 12 hours by air from California and three hours from New Zealand.

This cruise will link directly to our ‘Wonders Down Under’ New Zealand adventure, October 23 – November 1, 2026. For the New Zealand itinerary, please click here.

Itinerary

DAY 1, Friday October 16, 2026
Port Denarau and Modriki Island

Arrive at Nadi Airport in Suva, where we will be met and transferred to Port Denarau, three hours away by coach, to board the Motor Vessel Fiji Princess. At 3:00PM the Princess will depart for secluded Modriki Island, where the Tom Hanks film ‘Cast Away’ was filmed. After a visit to the movie set, a walk on the beach or a swim, we’ll enjoy canapés and a glass of sparkling wine on the Sky Deck and watch the tropical sunset. Tonight will be the traditional Captain’s Welcome Dinner, followed by music and song by the talented ship’s crew. We’ll spend the night at anchor here.

DAY 2, October 17
Soso Bay

Weather permitting, while en route to our next overnight anchorage we’ll have the opportunity to snorkel with reef sharks, which are shy and non-aggressive. Then, after lunch aboard and our arrival in Soso Bay, we’ll disembark to visit the village, swim and have afternoon tea on the beach. Tonight we’ll feast on a traditional Thai buffet and enjoy an extravaganza of Bollywood movies and dancing.

Day 3, October 18
Naucakuvu Island

Sunday is a day of rest in Fiji. After breakfast we can attend the village church service before the Princess hoists anchor and departs for our next stop, Naucakuvu Island. We’ll have lunch on board while underway. Upon arrival, the afternoon will be devoted to beach time. Dinner tonight will be a South Pacific-themed buffet, and then we’ll get to know our fellow passengers by teaming up for Fiji-style bingo in the ship’s lounge.

Day 4, October 19
The sacred Islands

Our next anchorage, stunning Waya Lailai Island in Yalobi Bay, feels like a lost South Pacific paradise. We’ll have a picnic lunch on the beach, swim, snorkel, stroll and relax—or join the chef as he shows us how to make a dish called Roti in Lolo. Tonight we’ll enjoy another traditional Captains’ Welcome Dinner for new passengers followed by an evening of song facts trivia.

day 5, October 20
The Blue Lagoon

Today’s destination, the famous Blue Lagoon, is ringed by beautiful islands. The Princess has its own private beach here, on Nanuya Lailai Island, where we’ll be able to swim in the turquoise waters, snorkel, kayak, paddleboard, play volleyball, feed the fish and relax while enjoying morning and afternoon tea, a beach buffet and bar. Dinner tonight will be a traditional Lovo meal cooked underground, clambake-style, and served under the stars, followed by a special Meke performance of music, dance and storytelling by villagers.

day 6, October 21
Sawa-I-Lau Island

After breakfast on board, we’ll stretch our legs with an easy 40-minute walk to Lo’s Tea House, a small and charming hut that serves homemade jam and fresh pastries as well as tea and coffee. Afterward we can take a final dip in the Blue Lagoon before we hoist the anchor and depart. Lunch will be served on board. On arrival at Sawa-I-Lau, we’ll take a guided tour of the Island’s amazing caves and then the village of Tamusua will welcome us with a Yaqona ceremony, a traditional Fijian welcome ritual where a beverage made from pounded kava roots is served in a communal bowl. The people will also show us around their village and then serve a local-style seafood dinner.

day 7, October 22
Drawaga Island

This morning we’ll have an opportunity to visit the local school before the Princess departs for Drawaqa Island. En route we’ll be joined by a biologist who will tell us about the local marine life and conservation programs, and we may be able to snorkel with magnificent manta rays. Weather permitting, dinner tonight will be a barbecue served under the stars on the Sky Deck. This will be our last evening, so we’ll party Fiji-style!

day 8, October 23
Mt Cook & Queenstown

While we breakfast, our ship will make the short run back to Port Denarau, where we will transfer back to Nadi Airport to catch our flight onward, either homeward bound or to Auckland to join the ‘Wonders Down Under’ New Zealand tour.

The MV Fiji Princess

The Motor Vessel Fiji Princess is a small ship with 32 air-conditioned cabins accommodating up to 64 guests. Each yacht-style cabin has a bathroom, storage space, TV for in-room movies, vanity table, hairdryer and towels plus bathroom amenities by Pure Fiji. All cabins are above the waterline and have windows with ocean views. All cabins include a complimentary mini-bar stocked (on the day of departure only) with a selection of premium beer, soft drinks, sparkling wine and snacks. (Alcoholic beverages can be exchanged for non-alcoholic options if requested at the time of booking.) Each cabin receives a Blue Lagoon Cruises tote bag and Pure Fiji gift bag, and each passenger a reusable metal water bottle and sulu (sarong).

To ensure the best possible experience, the Fiji Princess relies on 'flexible cruising,’ meaning that itineraries may vary depending upon the situation. For example, if a special event is happening in a certain village, the route will change to take us there. Or, if the captain learns that that our planned anchorage for a night will not be as sheltered as a bay on the other side of that island, the ship will up-anchor and move. Cruising through a region of coral lagoons and isolated island anchorages is weather-dependent, but Blue Lagoon has 75 years’ experience in Fiji’s waters and always endeavors to include all of the highlights of each voyage.

Please note

  • One Mind’s Eye sighted guide will be provided for each client.

  • If you prefer to bring your own sighted guide, please call for discounts.

  • If you are traveling from the US, in order to arrive in Suva on the morning of October 16, that flight departs California on the morning of October 14 and crosses the International Date Line. The flight takes approximately 12 hours—plenty of time for movies, meals and a full night’s sleep. It arrives early in the morning in Suva, with plenty of time to transfer to Port Denarau and board the Fiji Princess.

  • Mind’s Eye Travel can arrange for the group to fly together from California to Fiji.

  • Mind’s Eye Travel recommends trip insurance.

  • Our trips are non-smoking and not combinable with any other offer except (in this case) the ‘Wonders Down Under’ New Zealand tour.
